Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

Key Responsibilities Include# R, a9 F8 h& i3 s
Activity Planning and Daily Activity
+ J, r$ T& ~. x1 F% s• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.3 ~" @; `! P( U1 z3 F' ]- C, N$ R
• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring.
4 P5 b; Y! ?0 E4 F1 x `5 Y$ [• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, + o t1 h/ t1 m, |
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.
. H4 {2 d9 |& \; R' S( e2 d& W; o• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.
3 b) O, n4 d( F0 O7 i5 \• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.

The successful candidate will have:
- v' F3 J$ E7 g• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting
$ \+ i2 F) b$ h& ?# x. B• Experience with children; J7 I2 Q; H/ i
• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth + B* O' ^9 F$ S: _5 d! {( z
• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.
, N" [4 E2 A* S9 K$ F6 J• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.
( _' C' T' w A0 a; M# ]• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources
0 C3 j7 g# f& L% c9 _• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check
