Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families.  Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

' `  y, [" i# J: a(10 week @ 35 hours a week contract. Must be returning to school)

Key Responsibilities Include
Activity Planning and Daily Activity
•        Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their  resilience, relationship building and leadership.
•        Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring.
2 g( V7 e+ N. O5 k8 P3 F/ |•        Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer  and volleyball,
- ]$ N" e- Y$ n8 j•        Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.
•        Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.
: l' i% K  c* K3 T3 b1 J  c•        Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.

The successful candidate will have:
•        The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting
•        Experience with children
8 h- k  @  f, f; v& w% {4 ]•        Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
" R5 @. p9 U  c& k" R- S•        Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.
•        Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.
•        Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources

•        A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check
