Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

) a: H1 I- M; p( i2 D: t) e7 ?" k(10 week @ 35 hours a week contract. Must be returning to school)

2 W% g. ]; ]4 [) FKey Responsibilities Include
8 O2 {. p% X; b l3 I3 U3 fActivity Planning and Daily Activity
5 Q, l% x3 x) B3 P# l# _• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.
9 I" Y3 \4 ~; G; `, k) I6 N6 A B• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring.
3 K: e+ s G) `; \8 f/ A• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball,
3 @8 ?& a/ y; f7 t S5 S• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.
7 Z+ K6 I M6 Q( D* S2 ~* n, _7 w& T• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.
( b+ b' V; _9 O* x- ~+ M8 c• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.

. c; y, l3 |% C8 D1 w% ^7 UThe successful candidate will have:
7 F3 c4 z8 R. M# G; }/ P% c• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting9 O/ V9 U+ h5 l+ c
• Experience with children) U) \% L: O: m; a1 g
• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth " |% j h, B. s! t) ]
• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.
" N' v3 t" G+ ]) V: v7 I0 H• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.
5 p3 a+ e& }( A! r' U( k( i• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources
" o1 ?7 p+ U' o1 ]• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check
