FAVA is currently looking for a Librarian to join the FAVA team for 10 weeks in the
summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mandate is to
# m- i' u4 F2 Dsupport the production and exhibition of film, video and media artists from Northern
/ d3 B+ N+ q/ V5 v% u6 z7 d; a& VAlberta.
7 n& d! Z) }  Q) q
FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
/ Z) Q( v, p; Q' j# Femerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Librarian will report to the Executive Director and work with the
FAVA staff by organizing and updating two libraries: the film, video and digital library; as
$ O3 }3 o6 y/ awell as the script, magazine and book library.

! }, k: t& Z7 x+ d& ^1 I- i8 }6 Z- Sort and catalogue the film, video and digital library
# q) b5 E9 \6 i1 Q' N" g) e7 M! C- Sort and catalogue scripts, magazine and books
/ i" b% `8 b0 x# ~  h. A0 D& l- Implement a catalogue template for future use
* E# f: }7 p: P6 J/ G' ]. x) P% J- Update and develop loaning policy and procedure
- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
% }+ z6 b* p% D9 n/ p0 L6 J# d
Details:
- Funding for this position is provided by the Summer Temporary Employment Program
(STEP)
; ~* {7 q0 O6 y" j: {% ?- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
) Z: {" O% @6 x2 N3 J, asecondary training, university preferred
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
. `* [5 Y$ I4 c- Length of position: 10 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
1 t" |4 B3 Q$ z0 C, _$ J. z, H( V- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience or training in library sciences preferred
4 I. i  h$ L4 c; G7 |- Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal  
- Strong team player abilities
