$ D: R, l2 m, j# p* L- lFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
$ d5 M9 c4 I8 V" H+ Z+ qartists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
* H% x4 u6 h1 e: j6 {emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
, q% F6 o; e6 O4 `and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
" z8 @2 }6 l0 Z3 V6 Tresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
* q3 `7 C/ z; S% [screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

0 s6 z! r0 ?+ \3 y  F; L! i6 CJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
$ k$ o* y( \1 D+ b" o( D/ fassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

& \/ H6 f; Y9 u5 y- B5 lDuties:
: k6 C5 n- T0 t: L, l/ y- Assist with research on acquisition grants
) f$ w* z8 M" f' Z4 K, ^1 o$ f- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
+ m; a- l: ]4 X/ G- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
9 L) S/ M1 Z- Y$ q" k+ |0 b/ b4 V- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
: u+ P. K6 C$ i$ t, O. `- Provide vacation relief
& U6 U# S; g- H9 F7 E
Details:
- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
" s( n/ @% L. {8 G; jProgram (STEP)
- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
secondary training
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
3 p- \) R4 i0 w- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
# r& ]) n% R- [& u. P3 K; j/ X- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- Advance organizational and research skills
) A' J5 `- d$ A0 T- h9 g3 n- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
' ~% n' G7 m1 c+ o& u- Strong team player abilities
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
