FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
: c6 u. N5 `) m. y3 G9 N6 Qwhose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
artists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
% Q9 _& i  W5 V7 O1 Y3 H- u7 pemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
# ]4 X  w4 D( r( u4 V" O& t& cresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
- }, }: }$ `9 cscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
Alberta.

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
. `/ [. w- m+ i% gDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties:
/ i. Y. L5 D3 a* Z- Assist with research on acquisition grants
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
- Assist with equipment maintenance
. v" n, u5 V, L( l: w- Assist with production logistics for programming events
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
( r' e$ C# ]2 \, f- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
- G4 M& @- _3 {secondary training
& m/ J2 e3 E0 b, S- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
3 E$ c. x" W3 b" L- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
0 U, T7 q8 l/ V- Advance organizational and research skills
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
- Strong team player abilities
+ w9 m' F) Y% {) k% w# T- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
