; p3 k+ ]' [1 u# _2 LFAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media
8 k/ l  x6 Z! @1 I( X& D) w( Iartists from Northern Alberta.

& H5 ^5 x8 S$ J2 {  @0 @9 k+ XFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from
: y) j; d- m# l* {1 S/ demerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
. }* t" m6 V# F1 a6 Y2 r/ N. mAlberta.

8 B, N" D5 h3 U" K. a- l: TJob Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
& A; x  t% \! w  s$ V: j- X# I- K1 eassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

: E) A: g+ J, BDuties:
3 w, c! y3 x( H  {- Assist with research on acquisition grants
( ?9 W8 }% M6 U3 ?/ ?) L) r1 ^- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
3 z) W- ~& }) K7 x4 U$ u$ i  e" ^- Assist with equipment maintenance
! @% }4 E- ?8 ?) C% V8 z) @- Assist with production logistics for programming events
9 i1 z4 Y% I/ u7 H" e( f" w$ o3 B- V9 g- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
2 t* k  t" X) r& u- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
- Provide vacation relief

Details:
- A; M/ [& d4 U+ z3 f7 Z# F9 b- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
Program (STEP)
+ t$ Q! V3 J) F6 T8 D# b- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
% g' m& ~. b1 H+ N5 ]secondary training
! a# |  n& e& ~4 r6 b- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

7 ~& R# \4 W% n1 |1 xQualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
' \2 u1 l, E0 k/ h8 i- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
. R; a- s7 _5 A$ @- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
. F3 ^8 j7 O  z$ o% M% [0 I9 d: c- Advance organizational and research skills
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
: S6 B! D1 w2 z; k( x9 O$ `: ^- Strong team player abilities
