FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization
* I, ]/ U$ |3 ]whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media $ w1 a v0 B- u- U7 c( R y
artists from Northern Alberta. 6 h) l# z4 m' o2 ?9 v- J
5 ^8 S b: y& ]7 ?5 Y, wFAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from ( W( c4 q5 w2 E. a# {: c
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video ! |" P$ B# T5 s9 f* h
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a ; N9 e r2 g5 B3 `5 C6 j7 w
resource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and 4 b; R8 [% ]# m
screenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern 3 m X* Z0 G' s) a: v* O

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive $ s5 `+ }2 c1 r% x: `0 V5 k
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by 2 L. p- m3 D; Y; u2 R' K+ F
assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties:
0 h4 x) ~! ?7 K. \- Assist with research on acquisition grants % f" |- N+ K( L9 g$ z
- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
! a ^) R# W: @8 ^! l: u i* r6 q- Assist with equipment maintenance
, B1 Z+ a/ U% D7 N8 g/ s- Assist with production logistics for programming events $ u7 G9 h9 c2 g; L. Q5 Q
- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
) W0 \# F/ Z: u; b3 O$ ?- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable

- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have: - o* Q- A# n8 E1 K0 z
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts ' f, D" k" C! Y; M- w
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
; U# n* `& @5 n- Advance organizational and research skills ; H- c# E2 z) U9 L' a, l
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD : p) L! G7 {+ r% F n5 Q1 u
- Strong team player abilities # x! d- j! h4 w. {. \7 X4 J
- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors 6 |, E7 s Z3 F. Q$ Q: v( y
