A twelve-week training program for careers in Child Care.% u- g7 B8 d! u/ f9 g) A# B; u- x
This program is designed to provide participants with the skills and$ s& `2 O! l) ~* U
knowledge to help them succeed in entry-level child care positions.
, W2 h; `- o* ?% x% VThe program includes the following elements:
% @) {" h4 m3 O) h- j8 M, W7 H• Orientation Course for Child Care Staff (Level 1)% N4 U& \0 `8 d& `
• Standard Child Care First Aid
' n8 p* o S. t5 Z8 x• WHMIS
- E3 w0 b( J6 j• Practical and theoretical modules relevant to child care1 v" A9 e( {! ?0 |
• Components to improve communication skills
* v* i1 g% ?# L' \& Y• Modules on Work Place Culture and Work Search
7 h2 P- a/ j3 W) |0 D• Practicum Placements+ u3 r2 u x( W# a
Eligibility Criteria- F8 F! m w% O( a4 d/ a/ A
• be a landed immigrant, convention refugee or new citizen3 L4 a/ X+ Z4 @: N
of Canada8 q7 f* s' h9 W5 z# C
• have a Social Insurance Number
* x7 g" Q& i7 j1 e H2 t E0 C8 |• provide a completed criminal record check and child welfare check
% [: x2 H4 F3 U3 f• CLBA score of at least 4 or completion of LINC 4 or equivalent( H0 @* q, @' T$ Q% |
• demonstrate commitment to participating in a 12 week full-time

• be unemployed or underemployed.! y) d. J6 E, b4 X
They CANNOT quit their job to take the course
