A twelve-week training program for careers in Child Care.( i" {! a G9 Z& _/ q
This program is designed to provide participants with the skills and) W* l3 W7 g, z) b/ W1 g( U
knowledge to help them succeed in entry-level child care positions.
5 ^. z- ?- T$ AThe program includes the following elements:
1 Y4 c# q' f2 F9 m) D- d$ ]' l• Orientation Course for Child Care Staff (Level 1)) H5 k+ W% ^ N7 o
• Standard Child Care First Aid
, W9 J' B% V% m• WHMIS, `* }8 |* N$ e# _ y) x& r# N Z
• Practical and theoretical modules relevant to child care3 G+ g- k5 f; ]3 S1 @! h
• Components to improve communication skills) m/ T& v7 g* ~+ C8 _/ C
• Modules on Work Place Culture and Work Search( K( B. f7 `& o1 {0 g& o; |
• Practicum Placements# m; U) O( [3 ]/ a& G, L# ~
Eligibility Criteria1 n) ~% G- A6 e" U
• be a landed immigrant, convention refugee or new citizen# n+ x; t0 C& x/ r8 i, A9 E
of Canada
" R9 Z2 l! V( a1 J) v• have a Social Insurance Number7 Q9 i: b- r2 M0 X' {* G8 `6 L4 b
• provide a completed criminal record check and child welfare check
0 X. N! _! s' d7 ]• CLBA score of at least 4 or completion of LINC 4 or equivalent: P0 \; F0 S4 K% F
• demonstrate commitment to participating in a 12 week full-time) V! K9 j K# z& g" [5 |, b
program+ R. o" C8 O& t" K* Q O; U
Participants may be eligible for Grant Funding if they meet
, ~1 r7 ^# j1 B4 ?' Wthe following requirements, in addition to the one listed above:
' ~1 y+ ?9 i. r4 g: _) B• be unemployed or underemployed.
6 _7 z# _& b) ?, n% z3 rThey CANNOT quit their job to take the course
