The title “construction electrician” defines a person who, because of his or her knowledge,

systems, which provides light, heat, communications, and power to a variety of new and existing6 U5 d& P& ^+ C( {" r$ N/ Y2 W
residential, commercial, and industrial structures.# @2 |; g6 G: O6 v9 D7 _. i1 W
Construction electricians read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and architectural drawings
, |9 D8 n# G) v5 L" B: E2 dand electrical code specifications to determine wiring layout. They cut, thread, bend, assemble, and
. _/ y, P' M, Z2 U1 X4 M0 F. i5 Linstall conduits and other types of electrical conductor enclosures and fittings. They pull wire and cable: q6 }0 r. z/ w7 N) a' F4 `
through conduits, position, maintain and install distribution and control equipment such as switches,( k1 X3 X& O4 x, A
relays, circuit breaker panels, and fuse enclosures, install single and multi-wire cables above and8 E- R2 S% o+ B& ~" j
underground, install data cabling, and install and maintain fibre optic and signalling systems.

! i5 A8 L: K$ B" @- h/ ^all weathers; inside in dusty industrial plants and mills; to state-of-the-art clean-rooms in hospitals and& P" J$ ]. G) o; B
manufacturing plants. The work often requires considerable standing, bending, crawling, lifting,& B2 G+ @% n% `: ^7 a& S: o& Y

scaffolding at great heights. Hazards include electric shocks, burns, and falling objects.
