Payment and collection of health care premiums owed prior to January 1, 2009 will continue under these guidelines:

1. All Albertans are responsible to pay premiums unless they qualify for premium assistance, government-sponsored income support programs, or are senior citizens.3 F2 _8 x- C* W ?: _
2. Employers and benefit administrators who register and pay premiums on behalf of their employees will continue to do so.
$ i% p4 s% Z6 A/ q) ?$ z! l) R 3. Alberta Health and Wellness will continue to pursue collections from those who fail to pay premiums.
' S* R) E6 x' p, y$ v7 p 4. Contributors to Alberta Blue Cross or other supplementary insurance plans that provide prescription drug, dental, and other extended coverage, will still pay those premiums, as they have not been eliminated.) l# I L; n4 W8 C( e
