There are no changes in the way Albertans register for publicly-funded health care. However, as announced in the 2008 budget, health premiums have been eliminated as of January 1, 2009.

r# \" h" K3 X( M9 r9 ^" h 1. All Albertans are responsible to pay premiums unless they qualify for premium assistance, government-sponsored income support programs, or are senior citizens.
' H" F- l6 q3 S7 k1 \ 2. Employers and benefit administrators who register and pay premiums on behalf of their employees will continue to do so.
- R! |7 m4 p7 P8 A 3. Alberta Health and Wellness will continue to pursue collections from those who fail to pay premiums.
' H$ ]8 M; z5 z/ x% O* ? 4. Contributors to Alberta Blue Cross or other supplementary insurance plans that provide prescription drug, dental, and other extended coverage, will still pay those premiums, as they have not been eliminated.
