5 V( b# |7 d' M1 J/ f4 ~7 Y5 \Description: The Neighbourhood & Community Development Branch is seeking a Social Worker for the Assessment & Short-term Counseling Team (A.S.T.C.). The A.S.T.C. Team is made up of 14 Social Workers & is centrally located at Circle SQ. The team responds to a variety of issues including relationships, worries over children/teens, domestic violence, financial stresses & housing concerns. $ x) K' o! I4 }" Q% I5 V/ a

E0 k1 f3 W4 VKey Tasks - The successful candidate will report to the Director of Targeted Community Services and will: respond to citizen calls at a centralized phone in service; provide in person assessment/counseling to help clients identify strengths, family supports, and available community resources; take a holistic, creative approach to arriving at solutions.4 K8 d" N* U4 W' n6 P

In addition: collaborate with team members to develop/implement models of best practice in Social Work; facilitate drop-in/registered attendance groups for women and/or men who have experienced domestic violence to help them toward developing healthy relationships, personal dev., and making positive life changes; participate in the City's disaster social services response team; other related duties.5 u; P# U! ^ ]
; y# T' W; [ D* |- e, ^. oJob Requirements: a Bachelor's degree in Social Work. A Master's Degree in Social Work is preferred; a minimum of (3) years professional experience in the provision of social services involving individual/group programs, family counseling & organizational and/or community work.9 Y3 _0 X- f% X5 e0 q! R' I( U7 v& F3 [- J. ]In addition: RSW designation; demonstrated skills/creativity in the above functions, including strong skills in teamwork, assessment & short term counseling, community/organizational networking, group work/project initiation; sound knowledge of family violence; develop & sustain positive professional relationships with clients, colleagues, management/community agencies; maintain accurate records and professional case notes.
