In the first incident, a 30-year-old man is dead in what police are calling a "gang motivated" shooting near Whitemud Drive, the Edmonton Police Service said in a press release.

At approximately 2:20 a.m. MT, the EPS responded to a call of shots fired at a silver Infiniti near a Whitemud Drive overpass at 170th Street.3 j, W/ q/ @( y) W

The driver of the car was found dead at the scene.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting are still under investigation, but police believe the incident is not random and is likely gang-related.! H$ l" D; I8 D) E8 }$ M

Meanwhile, one male is dead and another is in police custody after an altercation between two groups in an alley early Sunday morning, according to an EPS press release.( B& `" h" w+ g j: R$ ^/ p

At approximately 2:45 a.m. MT, officers spotted a vehicle being driven the wrong way on Gateway Boulevard near Whyte Avenue." r$ ]0 W% \- W) v
0 z; P0 L3 Y: b& K- d. O# JUpon stopping the car, the officers learned that one of the passengers, a 24-year-old male, was seriously injured.) L" W ^) X5 |' a- @) d* x8 G3 `6 D
# v: B, u0 e6 f* \1 ]' |# NHe was taken to hospital, where he died of his injuries.

A police investigation revealed that the three male occupants of the vehicle had been involved in a physical altercation with two other males and a female near an alley south of Whyte Avenue, between Gateway Boulevard and Calgary Trail, which resulted in one male being stabbed.& z4 q u6 N0 Z7 s
" a3 H x' D3 n# A% t, O4 _The three suspects were located by police immediately following the vehicle stop. A 32-year-old male is in custody and charges are pending.
