    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
4 Z/ u* p4 _" O1 T9 S7 P* g    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
; l' v  K" `  u7 S& G; K. i    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators- p2 n' z; A* I4 d# z6 {
    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations
/ m1 G6 H( H& o3 }    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
1 v) h' q+ ^6 g( S    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
$ m& T! o5 L) H; s) t- b    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth0 M9 H# @& R* k/ P  k  g
    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
) F! c+ |0 }! c( \& t/ K4 U    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment
' K) ~1 k+ G$ i+ y# A    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports
* m, o, I/ F5 A: |+ b    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs$ J6 r. N$ t8 ~# _
    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly  j. Z( {+ a3 h! Y* V
    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities
% k  m3 h$ z) C    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

Qualifications) K9 H4 v) {5 L; U: d; p  D
1 W& X% A8 k7 r: R
    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline$ P0 V0 D9 ^/ Q- p0 \# `
    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth& G% n" s! [% }' X
    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
' n4 ]$ a" }" |    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
# g! R: ]$ r, p2 r/ R+ {    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community$ c$ P1 v0 v  V( R( y
    * Fundraising skills an asset
. f% r; g! f; L( \    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills
1 i( ?: i1 V$ P* L1 Y) k    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills! N) Y2 }+ t+ y' f  F" h
    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills: p+ h% D: B$ a0 ?( l+ v5 v: n0 J( O
    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills
% Z$ F# B1 |. V& E    * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset
