4 n9 o7 k7 h- F) d" O    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
. |1 e: l' ?( H: F/ U2 N( ^) X    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
0 e) O4 J4 `/ v% t    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations
    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
: H! q: @. S2 b6 @2 ]8 J    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
; @; U' q, q9 z  c$ q* C+ I    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
7 T6 _8 ?& M% Y    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment
; [7 {7 Q+ H* ^9 }. \    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports
    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs
    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly
    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities
    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

Qualifications

  E' T: i( S& @- G" U# @* z6 X    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
9 D* J0 V; e. c! w4 f    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
$ }! t3 w& f7 p4 w! j4 Y. j    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
/ |4 R: I9 M1 t$ m7 [: R    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community
. r2 Z3 F( Y* @2 L" Y    * Fundraising skills an asset
4 }- I: K" C. D4 t7 O* p    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills
9 X$ X& @/ s% C! Z$ q    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills
    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills
3 y! K1 n3 i8 [( _. V: C6 Z: E    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills
    * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset
