    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
" P6 N. S$ K9 X4 ?7 T    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group/ M& C  K$ l2 b5 a( j
    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators  c! `6 n5 ?4 Y( e$ r
    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations+ w4 v( }% E, b
    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
% O) S! x% G  W6 {( X    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses" J) {5 Q1 R3 \" t" W: }# P# V
    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
  ?$ ?, P* z) t# [0 O" u    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program

    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports1 R5 J5 m" G' i
    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs) C3 |7 f5 o8 }. N; A; s
    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly
1 E$ R7 t: E- G1 o    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities; G  F7 t! E. ]7 l6 d9 f5 M
    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

Qualifications* y8 J- k1 o- D' A" c
/ G1 w: u* x4 R" l+ {, y' k
    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
1 r5 Q* `; m- {! @3 c$ {  O    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth' ~/ z6 K4 p+ V3 Z( X: R4 x$ Y" s
    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies# Q$ v% i, O: e* d4 n' ~( t: ~
    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs$ Q, o, j+ c( H& `1 p5 l8 D2 A& |
    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community
, a; a: C& Z3 J+ H9 C    * Fundraising skills an asset  y5 C+ ^7 A& c( I' h' C8 C- [) Y
    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills0 z0 l. \& a  C4 l' m
    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills" q) q5 n  d. D1 d; Z( O8 a4 s
    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills
; t7 d4 H% `+ ^    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills  L7 P& F: |1 u2 p; z: F
    * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset: P# R' v/ v, R3 e. P7 N
