Duties

* k9 k1 ~, i4 a * Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
W$ I. x6 w" j1 q3 W4 I* }' V * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
! F' `( v5 A: c+ [& | * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques+ ?4 t+ M8 ?& ^* o: Y4 M
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client3 [8 T5 i5 M5 G5 [1 [
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry, B, _, A4 j7 A: q3 l# E4 Z
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals

* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices8 W M. [, {( u! J: Z+ @9 V H
* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

* Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
8 O; v8 i6 G0 T( q" p * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)! S- [8 q$ S( b3 }6 r/ ]0 f
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel. |. n! e2 B9 T B5 o
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
