* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
: x) k9 u# Q6 g! R& G1 a * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography1 }. u# |& Q; @0 b
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques& |2 }% K4 Y1 m! e
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client
. H0 F" o( H9 H4 v; l0 I/ O$ l * Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry/ _/ P. q* A$ `
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
% J6 j/ O% Z$ C! l! B% Q1 h * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab# t2 y. y+ N# M \6 |# Z* w% l
* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices
/ i0 l. ]+ `% Z * Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)

# P3 N0 g. W5 p: j/ A- f6 ~' P
. G3 A6 ^6 `$ K0 u& }: x$ a" a% r6 b * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred0 j1 Z( ^- |6 |* T( {
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
4 b; D: I$ N1 D6 u6 a * Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel$ L; v! ]1 u t+ @' o
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
A* a. O9 o$ F2 C( a7 G * Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
