Responsibilities include:% L+ _8 |. W" W( F* n- l, p, S: A/ h

1. Chemical list and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS’s)% B1 c" n# R/ O; U; D! E" |6 C
• help complete up-to-date chemical lists for all laboratories within the department
! A, x) s8 D0 J8 [• collect and obtain MSDS’s for all chemicals
1 a2 _4 D) I6 p9 w! `5 c• make sure all chemicals are properly labelled and stored
( Y% e; C4 g4 z% ?• proper disposal of all unwanted chemicals
& {/ e( Q. h7 i: \6 r$ O8 ^! P• finalize chemical lists and then duplicate and label all MSDS’s for distribution to OH&S for the MSDS on line system.

5 ]- W, E6 x5 {; P2. Standard Operation Procedures (SOP’s) and Hazard Assessments (HA’s)2 a& P2 b3 z( _
• help update the department SOP’s and HA’s. This will include verification of existing SOP’s and HA’s and tracking any that are needed.( n+ x0 p% H, I+ ]
) Y( h, o" @8 i" e3. Tracking System6 M6 V) ^! z; l' @
• help develop a tracking system for adding or removal of chemicals as well as continual updating and verification of SOP’s and HA’s + f( F6 c/ g) z2 i, ^. [3 ?

Candidates should be inquisitive, thorough, and willing to learn. Some education and/or experience in safety is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment are required.

; _: f, E/ J1 e( [6 HThis is a two-month summer position, preferably commencing the middle of June, which will pay an hourly wage commensurate with education and experience. Final candidates will be asked to undergo a security screening.
