Hours of work: 35 hours per week

Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community* h# {+ T6 A. ~6 k/ |( C) g
- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
( `* L7 a, M' [- g3 J8 q. Y- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
; Y G: }: c) J% u- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies

- prepare and send AGM information to members
4 V( T) {, l; H- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc./ D( X2 Q4 H9 k+ E2 k+ C$ X
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities+ g+ R' W' s. H0 v5 ^, ?0 a' U9 u
- update ASSIST website' B/ O& S5 O1 R0 K' |0 j
- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre
5 i% u: n( ?; C- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services0 W4 n& K0 q% w* n \% u
- assist in writing proposal for ISP9 N' E$ W* \3 H+ _2 l% j( c
- write quarterly and final reports for ISP1 W6 _1 Q2 R2 U& L2 T
- explore new ideas for ISP

Qualifications
) f+ H8 |% X! ?" I% D& L- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
% ^; v. w# E2 u/ `- good oral and written Chinese and English skills4 l7 ~. j+ ?: C" s
- experience in community work and immigrant services2 r4 w z0 p0 o8 }5 J& O: b
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars% I; g3 ] a+ i1 p! i; I0 x
- leadership skills
