Position title: Community Development Worker

7 F' \2 P' o* w- ^# e6 \4 }' b" jPosition Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. ! N4 r9 W! @& M5 x5 S* s+ ~- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community# F, K- d( J0 l0 ]6 ~- l$ A* K
- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
9 i' @$ s c; `2 t) N- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
$ r: A8 L& ~8 s- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies w8 F! l, M; r* C7 b4 F
- coordinate good will activities! G4 T" I" \ t1 ?3 h6 [" ?
- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members" n _5 c' K3 C7 J" k$ X
- submit information for community news

- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.

- update ASSIST website

- assist in writing proposal for ISP
$ g- u M6 E' O4 g7 C: V- write quarterly and final reports for ISP& X& D* b9 S( W# P; O+ \' u
- explore new ideas for ISP
9 K4 p; f/ n8 F- hold regular meetings with ISP team3 m/ f( s& D4 d# b, Y$ T
- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

& u9 j3 T K) _/ G- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required)0 w* t& l x# w

Qualifications
2 R2 c, r, |( Y3 }, ?6 S5 |# | `- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education h X9 O5 j; w( d* g9 K1 D5 i) _' z
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills9 ]7 x; f6 E/ j
- experience in community work and immigrant services
/ Q' R+ D9 _: e& n# E/ o1 F- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars. P! M6 ], h; U/ n% }
- leadership skills3 W" k$ E7 C& s& p4 k
