Position title: Community Development Worker

Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community
/ ^: Z/ Z" ]3 g" Q" R: v) _- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
. `9 Y/ z: N; q' e8 V+ ]- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services5 ]7 F6 C p9 n5 M6 e, f E
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies% V" T! L, {8 z$ X( U; [' S* A
- coordinate good will activities9 g v5 }- f s3 g& F! S' `. X
- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members; r9 I8 }; Z7 Y
- submit information for community news 8 z: M! ]8 Q5 Z
- prepare and send AGM information to members' c' [, r* O; g7 J
- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.
% K! {6 @" R7 R+ K4 J M3 W- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities3 Y1 {; D S5 p" r
- update ASSIST website
5 N1 q9 N( z" @% n- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre
; _4 ?/ o* R @- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services
; b- t" ^+ r) p& c% f4 `- assist in writing proposal for ISP+ u9 P( w' M3 i: t X
- write quarterly and final reports for ISP0 P! `) n1 I! C# |' @% z# }% s
- explore new ideas for ISP % i* b. E$ Q) t! N% b, R3 z% u. p3 e
- hold regular meetings with ISP team

Qualifications
. o' S% `$ \: N* T- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education ) I. S: K$ l; A+ b
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
2 @; U* e7 o- t) i# ]- experience in community work and immigrant services. @3 A7 j9 C* s; h3 |
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars
