Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community

- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services$ h B' A* O! e
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies" V7 Y5 A) M6 Y: Y& h

- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members2 a( o; ]. I0 y
- submit information for community news

- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.( m' l4 P O" v; v8 f" t9 }, f+ s$ I
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities

- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre7 v. m6 z. }2 S) B
- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services1 Q7 ^4 P% M$ k+ ~
- assist in writing proposal for ISP& W3 |4 p6 ^: o: u9 ^. O2 r' u9 i
- write quarterly and final reports for ISP

- hold regular meetings with ISP team z8 b5 Q8 X0 w6 Y4 j: O
- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time. ?$ q ^; g( S9 S( h
- update membership database/ l! j9 L/ v. \/ r9 M3 h; A
- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required)" ?: g8 W6 x* G$ ~' N
6 m/ a2 o: O. \Qualifications& S h0 K3 s' P# ^! |7 B
- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
# M6 @ G. z1 j/ t$ J- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
6 c0 `; {5 u* C" p9 W- experience in community work and immigrant services9 C5 l" _% q. e/ l* L
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars
