Position title: Community Development Worker

Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team. ! r q/ E' k4 Z% t; E

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community
. {8 Q! C0 j$ I+ q- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
; d3 x" L3 x) ]6 T5 Y$ @! t- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
- E$ @0 L$ s, D3 X" L; v- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies/ i U' C7 T) t. [. `, g: h6 W3 Y
- coordinate good will activities- n5 q* s' y$ \1 I
- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members8 v: ~( k/ u! F- s: r$ l
- submit information for community news ) f, P( L: f, {+ b
- prepare and send AGM information to members6 y0 N4 X3 E, a- G; @3 |6 W/ w+ e
- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.

- update ASSIST website$ @ p; W7 G# X( W
- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre) k% _, R+ }: h1 ^" C/ j; F
- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services+ q4 Z. Z# k1 b$ G3 ?. h* z
- assist in writing proposal for ISP
* E; G9 }7 o5 ^% e$ C# }+ p% U- write quarterly and final reports for ISP

- hold regular meetings with ISP team

Qualifications* W0 b5 U4 D. A" E
- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education 5 ]" X2 p5 C& F; l- r7 ^
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills2 Z: |' D! b. ^8 ]% c- D* O, F
- experience in community work and immigrant services8 ]; C B( U) N4 p4 A
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars
