increases the tuition fee by few percent every year and international
) T. n! ]$ C Z. o, _9 k- Vdifferential fee was increased by almost 20% last year. Add to this,

5 u4 u7 |# ?% J3 ^) p3 |, cand most of the newly admitted students who applied for housing were
4 Z5 t; z2 G3 t6 Vasked to look for a residence on open market.

While the average cost of living for a typical graduate student has : K0 p! g3 {! H5 \ ?: ?
increased by something more than 70% percent we are getting paid 4 U+ s' G: D7 B# P" }9 n
exactly for the same amount of money that we were offered in our
# v" o f1 g+ u- f3 `admission letter (18000 CAD + 1500 CAD for international students

us) has to pay twice as much as I was paying for housing when I was

Also have in mind that Alberta is a rich province and University of

My objective in bringing all abovementioned points in your attention
9 w% @& J2 v( s0 r; H$ u: Sis to question the adequacy of financial aid for graduate and & u4 K$ a6 v& b5 Y
especially international students. Isn抰 it time for the GSA to take
! C; N/ Q! i U% ~! M9 B: a2 ~, s) A
( x8 A" w% q( @( hinitiative in raising the issue of increasing financial aid for 9 Q1 \1 M* k# s/ g# N
graduate students so that the can afford this increase in costs?
